Paleo Diet

Very similar to Keto-diets in what they exclude, however, Paleo takes it a step further. The goal of Paleo besides cutting out carbs is to eat food that would have been available to a cave mane. For example bread can not be found in the wild so you can not eat it. You cann eat eggs, berries, nuts, fish, veggies, etc. A common problem is finding things you are allowed to eat. However, once you get into routine it becomes a lot easier.

What Can You Eat?

  • Lean meats including: chicken, turkey, pork, lean beef, and bison.

  • Fish/ Seafood

  • Fresh fruit

  • Nonstarchy vegetables including: lettuce, asparagus, green beans, broccoli, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, and spinach

  • Nuts, like almonds, walnuts, cashews, pecans, and pistachios

  • Seeds, like pumpkin and sunflower

  • Eggs

  • Plant-based oils, such as olive, walnut, grapeseed, and coconut oil

What Can’t You Eat?

  • Grains, such as oats, wheat, barley, and rice — which means no cereal, bread, pasta, bagels, crackers, or granola bars

  • Starchy vegetables, such as potatoes and corn, as well as potato and corn chips, tortillas, and popcorn

  • Legumes or beans — so no peanuts or peanut butter; no soy foods, such as soy milk, tofu, or edamame; no hummus or beans of any kind

  • Dairy products — so no milk, yogurt, cheese, or ice cream

  • High-fat meats, such as salami, bologna, pepperoni, hot dogs, ground meat, rib roast, and ribs

  • Sugars, such as in soda, honey, jam or jelly, syrup, candy, cakes, cookies, and sports drinks

  • Processed foods or trans fats, such as doughnuts, french fries, fruit snacks, or macaroni and cheese

  • Salty foods, such as crackers, chips, pretzels, soy sauce, added-salt foods, or sports drinks

Tips

  • This diet promotes odd portions of various food which can be a problem because you may find yourself overeating some of them. This wouldn’t be a calorie issue if you ate a lot of lettuce, but could be a problem if you ate a 5-pound jar of nuts.

  • The diet is has a higher concentration in proteins, which builds and maintains muscle. Too much protein can mean too little carbohydrate, which is an energy source for exercise.

  • Depending on their needs the amount of carbohydrates may not be enough for competitors. The diet does allow some carbohydrates with a few of the food selected, but it is still fairly restrictive and sound be considered.

  • If you having trouble sticking to this diet because of your sweet tooth work on your sweet tooth first then focus cutting your carbs on your carbs. Sugar is very addictive more addictive than cocaine if you have to address this issue first that fine. The same can be said for all of these diets.

  • If you need a snack that's fine stick to the progressive diet system instead of cold cutting carbs.

  • If your not sure the goal it to eat meat avoid sugar and starchy foods. So if its bready its probably got to go.

  • This can be difficult to start but once in routine its harder to break.

  • Not all carb are equal. Some are easier to digest then others some provide nutrient while others are empty calories. Focus on reducing processed carbs . Remember not every time your hungry you need t eat. Sometimes it because we are bored, or sometimes its because or body is going through withdrawals as we eliminate sugars. Whatever the reason a glass of water usually won't make it worse.
